In October 2024, I completed an artist in residence program with Ocean Stays in Yamba which is an absolutely glorious spot on the NSW north coast. Yamba has always held a spot in my heart but I hadn't been there for over 20 years so I was utterly thrilled when asked to not only go there, but to paint it! 
 
I created a series of Yamba paintings in this size and my collectors loved them, so I decided to make some more. 
 
This one is Heading to the Beach at Yamba is based on the view as you approach Convent Beach from Ocean Street in Yamba. There's a glorious view as you walk the path, passing trees and luscious native beachside flora, catching glimpses of the beach and ocean all around. It felt nostalgic for me, like I had travelled back in time to when life was calmer, simpler. I wanted to catch that feeling in this little piece.
 
This size painting is perfect for a small wall or part of a gallery hang and could also work on a shelf or mantel. It's a great size for gifting, too, because it's an easy size to find a home for.
