Afternoon Surf depicts a young surfer making his way across the grass towards the beach, scoping out the best spot to paddle out. Whilst this is based on a reference photo taken at Elouera Beach at Cronulla, I chose to keep the surroundings simple because I wanted this to feel like a country beach scene. I was painting this at the same time as "Sunday Drive" and I felt like the drive could have been to the beach!
